“He said he didn’t know what happened,” Detective Capt. Thomas Salcedo told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

The four-door Toyota bolted out of the parking lot, hit a heading west on University Plaza Drive, then jumped the curb at hit three parked, unoccupied vehicles in the Dunkin Donuts lot before coming to rest on River Street.

“The guy must have been going about 90 or 100 miles an hour,” one witness told CLIFFVIEW PILOT. “He flew through the parking lot, hit a car in the street, jumped the curb and went into other cars.”

He was taken to nearby Hackensack University Medical Center.

Meanwhile, traffic was backing up on River Street in both directions near the intersection of University Place, up the street from the FDU campus.
