Oscar Pedraza, 18, turned himself in at 10:10 a.m. today to face the charges, Maguire said. The condition of the victim, who was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center with what the chief said were serious injuries, was unknown.

Pedraza knocked down the 32-year-old woman, also of Little Ferry, on West Fifth Street just after 9:30 p.m. last night, Maguire said.

He then got into his car and sped off, hitting and dragging her in the process, the chief said.

Responding officers quickly got an ambulance and interviewed several witnesses.

Pedraza was being held on $385,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail pending a Municipal Court appearance.

He is charged with attempted murder, domestic violence assault, hindering apprehension, leaving the scene of a crash with bodily injury, endangering an injured victim and making terroristic threats.

He also was served with a domestic violence restraining order.

(NOTE: CLIFFVIEW PILOT withheld details of the incident last night while police searched for Pedraza.)
