Maywood Police: U-Turning Driver Injures 2 Pedestrians, One Seriously

MAYWOOD, N.J. -- Two Hackensack pedestrians struck by a car making a U-turn in Maywood early Wednesday evening were hospitalized -- him with serious injuries and her with a leg injury, police told Daily Voice.

An investigation was continuing.

The windshield of the compact vehicle was smashed after it struck the 37-year-old man and 23-year-old woman at East Passaic Street by The Esplanade just after 5:30 p.m., Police Chief David Pegg said.

Both were taken to Hackensack University Medical Center by HUMC ALS/BLS.

The driver, characterized as a young adult from Hackensack, could receive summonses once an investigation is completed.
