Lyndhurst man sexually abused girl for 6 years, indictment charges

UPDATE: An unemployed Lyndhurst man molested a girl over the course of six years beginning just after her sixth birthday, an indictment returned by a grand jury in Hackensack alleges.

A disturbing text message the girl sent to a friend prompted loved ones to call authorities, who told CLIFFVIEW PILOT that they found other writings by her pointing to James Gizzo, 44, last September.

Detectives from Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli’s Special Victims Unit and Lyndhurst police arrested the 6-foot-1, 330-pound Gizzo soon after.

Gizzo, who has previous convictions for robbery, burglary, theft and drugs, is charged in the indictment with “digital/vaginal penetration,” sexual assault by touching her breats and vagina, impairing the morals of a child and child neglect.
