Yana Chechelnitsky, 47, pleaded guilty in a Hackensack courtroom yesterday to assaulting Sgt. Timothy Schumacher as he another officer responded to a report of her being drunk and disorderly.

Defense attorney S. Emile Lisboa, who represented the former Bergen County law clerk, said: “While it was a simple assault, you realize that since he is a police officer it’s a more serious charge.”

Chechelnitsky agreed, admitting that she was drunk and violating probation by being arrested.

A judge in 2012 slashed a 364-day sentence to 60 days in jail affer Chechelnitsky admitted driving drunk with her children in the car, attacking her husband with a knife and assaulting two police officers after she threw herself on his mercy and pledged to overcome her alcoholism.

Sentencing for yesterday’s plea, set for July 24, will extend Chechelnitsky’s probation by 2½ years to late 2017.

Her license to practice law could also be affected.
