Indictment adds charge against Palisades Park man accused of sexually assaulting teen

ONLY ON CVP: A superseding indictment returned in Hackensack charges a Palisades Park man who participated in the borough’s National Night Out against crime with sexually assaulting a girl he knew over a period of two years, beginning when she was 14.

Although they didn’t have intercourse, the indictment says Leo LoPiccolo on various occasions used his finger and tongue on the girl’s private parts, and also had her touch his.

The two years of abuse — from July 2009-2011 — was discovered by a staffer at New Milford High School who called local police, Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli said when LoPiccolo was arrested in June of last year.

LoPiccolo, 42, who Molinelli said is married and worked at the Home Depot in Hackensack, spent two weeks in the Bergen County Jail before posting $100,000 bail. He has remained free since.

LoPiccolo originally was indicted a year ago this month but a grand jury returned a nine-count superseding indictment this week.

It charges him with aggravated sexual assault, two counts of sexual assault, three counts of aggravated sexual contact — by touching the victim’s breast and vagina and having her touch his penis — and a single count each of child neglect and impairing the morals of a minor.

It also adds a count of criminal sexual contact “by intentionally touching her breasts.”
