Jaime Vazquez, 35, had the girl touch his penis on Valentine’s Day 2014, the indictment alleges.
The girl told her mother what allegedly occurred and they went to Garfield police, according to Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli.
Detectives from the prosecutor’s Special Victims Unit interviewed the girl “at a children’s advocacy center in the state where the victim and her family now reside,” Molinelli said last summer.
During the interview, the girl “provided specific details describing how she was sexually assaulted on one occasion by Vazquez, who was in a relationship with a relative of the victim at that time,” he said.
Vazquez posted $150,000 bail — after a judge reduced it from $200,000 — and was released from the Bergen County Jail two weeks after his July 31 arrest
The indictment also charges him impairing the morals of a minor.
