Grand jury charges Maywood man with having eight pounds of pot for sale

ONLY ON CVP: A Maywood manwas indicted by a grand jury in Hackensack in connection with more than eight pounds of pot seized from his home.

Miguel A. Brito remained free on $75,000 bail.

Grand jurors charged him with three marijuana possession counts — one on the Grant Avenue property of Memorial School — as well as “possession of drug paraphernalia to facilitate distribution” and transporting $26,000 in alleged drug proceeds.

Also facing charges are his father, Miguel T. Brito, and his father’s female companion, Altagracia Montilla, who were also arrested at the Sterling Avenue address. A juvenile was also taken into custoday.

Acting on information developed by borough Officer Kevin Madden, a strike team that included Maywood police, Bergen County Sheriff’s officers and agents from ICE and the Drug Enforcement Agency hit the house last Oct. 24 following a series of undercover buys.
