Robert Cubala of Linden met the girl after “conversing via the Internet for a period of time,” Molinelli said.
The girl and her mother last week went to Fair Lawn police, who notified the prosecutor’s office.
They determined that the liaison happened in Elmwood Park, Molinelli said.
Members of the prosecutor’s Special Victims Unit and Elmwood Park police then arrested Cubala yesterday on sexual assault and child endangerment charges, he said.
Cubala, who is single, was being held on $250,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail. An arraignment in Superior Court in Hackensack was set for next Wednesday.
