The Bergen Bassmasters was formed in 1986 and has since grown into the largest NJ Bass Federation Chapter and one of the most respected bass fishing clubs in the state — with nine chapter of the year awards.
Bergen Bassmasters has received several awards from the state for the club’s contibutions to the disabled and has been named the ESPN/Bassmasters “National Chapter of the Year for the Special Events Category.”
Club tournaments are held in New Jersey, New York and Connecticut.
The club sends its top finishers to the annual New Jersey Top Six Team Tournament and conducts numerous buddy tournaments — some open only to club members and observers — along with an Open Event Night Tournament each year for non-members.
Fishing derbies for both the local Cub Scouts and the handicapped are also held.
