Although police arrested Hamilton Sanchez-Olmo, 22, as their primary suspect moments after one of the March holdups, they didn’t pick up his alleged accomplice — 35-year-old Emsha Wellington of Lodi — until last month.
An indictment returned by a grand jury in Hackensack a week and a half ago charges Wellington equally with Sanchez-Olmo for threatening clerks with a deadly weapon while robbing:
- Sunoco Gas, Elmwood Park;
- CVS, Garfield;
- Rite Aid, Hasbrouck Heights;
- Minit Mart, Hasbrouck Heights;
- Pizza Zone, Lodi;
- 7Eleven, Lodi
All are first-degree offenses.
Both also are charged with having Xanax and Suboxone.
Sanchez-Olmo remained held on $2.25 million bail, and Wellington on $1.1 million, in the Bergen County Jail.
Authorities said they found Sanchez-Olmo hiding in a Dumpster in Lodi barely 100 yards from the Essex Street 7-Eleven, which they said he’d just robbed of $100 at gunpoint.
The weapon turned out to be a BB gun, sources at the time told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.
The arrest ended a holdup spree in the four towns, authorities said.
They tracked down and grabbed Wellington in Parlin on Aug. 6 and charged him first with the 7-Eleven robbery and then with the other five.
