Beloved Hackensack High School Teacher Bernard Zoch Dies

HACKENSACK, N.J. — Former students, teachers and community members of Hackensack High School are mourning the loss of their beloved teacher Bernard Zoch, who died Dec. 8.

Zoch was remembered by posts on Facebook as the "greatest math teacher," and a "very caring person."

Others noted that Zoch "always had a great spirit," and embodied Hackensack High School.

Councilman David Sims shared his fondest memory of Zoch.

"He always came to high school games and cheered on the boys and girls basketball team," the councilman said. " And if he thought a ref blew a call, he sure would let them have it.

"He truly bled blue and gold -- the Comets' colors."
