HACKENSACK, N.J. — Bergen County Assemblyman Tim Eustace is among the four lawmakers who hope to remove black bears from the list of game species.

Eustace (D-Bergen/Passaic) — along with Grace Spencer, Raj Mukherji and Thomas Giblin (Passaic) — are sponsoring Bill A3527.

The bill would require that black bears be protected in the same manner as other animals indigenous to New Jersey, ensuring that it could no longer be legally hunted in New Jersey.

Meanwhile, New Jersey's first bow hunt in four decades began on Monday morning, NorthJersey.com reports.
