Aetna Customers Could Lose Rwjbarnabas Hackensack Facility

Aetna customers could lose RWJBarnabas Health due to contract negotiations, RWJBarnabas Health announced.

RWJBarnabas Health and Aetna are currently in contract negotiations, which could force some Bergen County members to search elsewhere for healthcare.

RWJBarnabus has facilities in Hackensack, Rutherford and Englewood Cliffs.

Aetna recently sent a letter to its 45,000 members stating that RWJBarnabas Health facilities will not be part of the Aetna provider network after April 22, 2017.

The hospital network said the communication is routine that must be sent to participants 30 days before the contract expires, per the state of New Jersey.

"While we cannot speak for Aetna, it is our goal and expectation that we will enter into a new agreement and continue to participate in the Aetna provider network," RWJB said.
