The letter from Jack Davis, 9, was in response to a job posting for a position NASA has had since the 1960s, which pays between $124,406 and $187,000 a year.
"I may be nine but I think I would be fit for the job," Jack said. "One of the reasons is my sister thinks I'm an alien also I have seen all of the space."
Davis, a self-proclaimed guardian of the galaxy, got a formal response back from NASA's Planetary Science Division Director James L. Green, explaining what the job is all about and urging him to stay in school.
"We are always looking for bright future scientists and engineers to help us, so I hope you will study hard and do well in school," Green wrote. "We hope to see you at NASA one of these days."
