FOX Searchlight's Epic Bergen County Rap Movie Drops This Weekend

BERGEN COUNTY, N.J. — A new movie coming to theaters this weekend takes place right here in Bergen County.

Parts of the film were shot along Route 46 in Saddle Brook, Teterboro and Hackensack.

Patti Cake$ (Danielle Macdonald) is about a plus-sized, female rapper seeking fame and fortune.

Patti Cake$ premiered at the Sundance Film Festival on in January, and received distribution offers from Focus Features, Neon, The Orchard and Annapurna Pictures.

Macdonald, 26 from Australia, told the New York Post that she spent 18 months rapping to songs by Eminem, Notorious BIG and Nicki Minaj inside of her closet.
