The former "What Makes You Beautiful" singer, 31, fell from the third floor of a Buenos Aires hotel, as reported by the New York Times on Wednesday, Oct. 16.
The day before Payne's death, his girlfriend of almost years, Kate Cassidy, who graduated high school in Bergen County, shared a TikTok video about her journey back to the United States from South America. In the video, Cassidy says she was "so ready to leave" as she doesn't like staying in the same place for too long. Her seat home on the flight was 1D: "I feel like this happens every single time I fly," she said.
Cassidy's Facebook page says she's a Harrington Park native and that she attended Northern Valley Regional High School - Old Tappan. She reportedly graduated from Coastal Carolina University in 2021.
Cassidy has more than 189K followers on TikTok, where she videos dancing with her beau, and 179K followers on Instagram, where hundreds of people shared their condolences in her comment section.
