No Correlation Between Drowning Suit, Point Pleasant Beach Closings, Attorney Says
The death of a 69-year-old man visiting a Point Pleasant beach could have been avoided if the beach owner had warned about dangerous water conditions, a lawsuit alleges. The Bridgewater lawyer filing the suit says she doesn't think there is any correlation between her legal action and Jenkinson's decision this week to lock off its privately-owned beaches. In fact, there are still three public access points to Jenkinson-owned beaches in Point Pleasant, according to the lawyer, Cynthia Walters. A wrongful death lawsuit has been filed against the Vineland Police Department in the 2015 death of Philip White. The trial begins on Thursday, Oct. 6 in U.S. District Court in Camden. Witnesses apparently differ on many facts including what precipitated Vineland Officer Louis Platania to direct force against White in the March 31, 2015 encounter, according to the lawsuit filed by attorneys Stanley O. A New Jersey mother was talking to her daughter on the phone when she overheard the tractor-trailer crash that ended her and her boyfriend's lives in Illinois over the summer, a new lawsuit alleges. Point Pleasant high school sweethearts Marsada "Sadi" Connors, 20, and Cole Young, 19 — along with their yellow lab, Maezy — died when a tractor trailer veered into oncoming traffic and hit their 2008 Honda Odyssey on Route 70 in Illinois on Friday, Aug. 20. Family Of Bicyclist Killed In Newark’s Ironbound Settles Suit For $2.5M
The family of a mechanic who was struck and killed on his bicycle in The Ironbound has reportedly settled a wrongful death lawsuit for $2.5 million. Renato Gomes, 42, was struck and run over by a tractor-trailer hauling fuel as he rode his bicycle on July 10, 2018 in the Down Neck neighborhood of Newark where the Brazilian native worked, authorities said at the time. Surveillance video captured images of the horrific crash at Adam and Thomas streets, where he was pronounced dead, they said.
