The driver, Jacob D. Griffiths, 40, of Bridgeton, ultimately was charged with multiple counts of eluding, aggravated assault, obstruction and hindering apprehension, according to the Cumberland County Prosecutor's Office. 2,800 Bags Of Heroin Seized In Cape May County Arrest: Prosecutor A 32-year-old man from South Jersey has been arrested for selling heroin, authorities said. Jorge A. Aviles, of Rio Grande, was charged with numerous drug and weapons offenses, according to Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey H. Sutherland and Chief Jennifer Pooler of the Middle Township Police Department.  As part of a warranted search of Aviles' home on Route 47, about 2,800 bags of heroin were seized along with $753 cash and a dagger, Sutherland said. Aviles was being held in the Cape May County Correctional Facility.

The crash occurred at 7:33 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31 on Route 47 (North Delsea Drive) near milepost 16.8 in Dennis Township, New Jersey State Police said. Melissa DeJesus, of Vineland, was driving north on the highway when she traveled off the road, struck a tree, and overturned, according to Sgt. Philip Curry, a state police spokesman. The crash remains under investigation, he said.

The Tesla Model S caught fire after crossing the center line and driving off the roadway to the left in the single-car crash, according to a New Jersey State Police spokeswoman. Daniel Sincavage, 41, of Rio Grande, was driving northbound on Route 47 at milepost 27.7 in Maurice River Township at 10:42 p.m. on Thursday, May 19 when the crash occurred, she said. A 40-year-old passenger suffered minor injuries, she said. The crash remains under investigation.

The escape occurred early Thursday from Bayside State Prison, located off Route 47 in Maurice River, Cumberland County, initial reports said. Multiple New Jersey State Police K-9 units were called to help search the region, but did not have to be deployed, a State Police spokesman said.  The prisoner was located and was in custody by 10 a.m., the spokesman said.

Wanted DWI South Jersey Man Nabbed After Foot Chase On Route 47, State Police Say A South Jersey man was intoxicated when he pulled over on Route 47 and ran from officers attempting to arrest him, state police said. Christian Harris, 42, was stopped for a traffic violation on Route 47 southbound at milepost 16 in Middle Township, Cape May County, at 2:15 a.m. Sunday, state police said in a Friday release. Harris, of Pittsgrove in Salem County, exited the car and ran from officers, who apprehended him after a brief chase, police said.
