Underground Jersey Shore Pizza Maker Preparing To Open Its First Restaurant
After spending years as a secret seller of square slices, an underground pizza maker is opening a restaurant along the Jersey Shore. Squares & Fare said construction is underway for its first permanent location in the summer of 2024, the pizza place posted on social media. An Instagram post on Friday, Feb. 9 said the goal is to open the shop by the Fourth of July. First Dead Whale Of 2024 Washes Up Along Jersey Shore
A dead whale has washed up along the Jersey Shore for the first time in 2024, according to a marine animal rehabilitation center. The Marine Mammal Stranding Center (MMSC) received a report about a humpback whale found in the surf near 51st Street in Long Beach at around 6:45 a.m. on Thursday, Apr. 11. In a Facebook post, MMSC said the whale was estimated to be about 20 to 30 feet long. This whale is the first one MMSC has found dead along the Jersey Shore since Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2023. Split Storms Combine: Brace For 4 Inches Of Rain This Weekend In NJ, PA, Forecasters Say
All of New Jersey and Greater Philadelphia are under a flood watch ahead of one big rain storm, or a combination of two different storms that will combine and head to the region this weekend. Helicopter Makes Emergency Landing At Jersey School Field: Police
A helicopter operated out of an Essex County facility made an emergency landing at a Jersey Shore school field Thursday, March 14, authorities said. The commercial passenger helicopter operated by Zip Aviation of Caldwell touched down on a baseball field behind Middletown High School North, adjacent to Marvin Road, Middletown police said. The pilot, who is not being identified at this time, saw the field and determined that it would be safe to make the emergency landing after an indicator light came on, police said. Many parts of the Jersey Shore avoided the snow during a pre-Valentine's Day winter storm, but the coast doesn't appear to be dodging it this time. The National Weather Service said the Jersey Shore could see two to four inches of snow overnight and in the morning on Saturday, Feb. 17. A Powerball ticket from the Monday, Dec. 25 drawing with a $50,000 jackpot was sold at a 7-Eleven store on the Jersey Shore. NJ Transit Train Strikes Car On Jersey Shore
A New Jersey Transit train struck a car on the Jersey Shore, authorities said. At 7:32 a.m., North Jersey Coast Line train 3224 crashed into the car at the Bethany Road crossing in Hazlet. The car's motorist was not hurt. No injuries were reported to the approximately 150 customers or the crew on board at the time. The train departed Long Branch at 7:10 a.m. and was scheduled to arrive at Penn Station New York at 8:41 a.m. Customers from train 3224 were being transferred to a following train. New Jersey Transit Police are on scene leading the investigation.
