‘This Is Our Legacy:’ 1,150-Acre Nature Preserve Debuts In New Jersey
Rainbow Hill, a pristine nature preserve featuring an 8-acre lake, hiking trails, and farm fields nestled between Hunterdon and Somerset County, is officially open to the public. Jersey Shore Hiker Collapses, Dies On Catskills Trail: Report
A hiker from New Jersey complaining of chest discomfort and breathing problems collapsed and died while hiking in the Catskills last weekend, officials said. The man was identified by the Times Union as Ravi K. Vegiraju, 50, of Morganville. The incident happened in Greene County in the hamlet of Lanesville around 8:50 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 16. According to officials with the Department of Conservation, the hiker collapsed on the Diamond Notch Trail in the Hunter-West Kill Wilderness Area. PJ Angele Of Flemington Dies, 31
Paul "PJ" Angele of Flemington died on July 30 at Phoenixville Hospital Tower Health in Chester, PA. He was 31 years old. PJ graduated from Hunterdon Central Regional High School (Class of 2008) and had been working as a handyman for Happy Homes Maintenance the last two years, his obituary says. His obituary remembers him as the life of the party, with a passion for hiking, tattoos and the great outdoors. Committal was private.

NJ Man Recovers From Venomous Snake Bite
A 21-year-old New Jersey man is recovering at home after he was bit by a copperhead snake, landing him in the hospital for three days. Kevin Murray of Pennington tells Daily Voice he was two minutes from his car on the way back from a sunset hike at Baldpate Mountain in Titusville when he felt a stinging sensation in his left ankle on Aug. 5. "At first I thought it was a bee or a wasp," he said. "I fell down and looked around, that’s when I saw the snake and put things together."
