One Dead, 25 Displaced In South Jersey Building Fire
A fire that evacuated a senior housing complex left one person dead and about 25 displaced over the weekend, authorities in Burlington County said. A heavy smoke condition on the third floor of the J. Frank Budd Building on East Pearl Street brought officials from Burlington City to the scene around 11:35 Saturday, Oct. 15. A 70-year-old robbery suspect has been arrested in South Jersey, authorities said. Michael Swift, of Burlington City, has been charged with second-degree robbery, Evesham police said. On Nov. 15, 2021 at 4:58 p.m., Evesham police responded to Rite-Aid at 235 North Maple Ave, for a report of a robbery. A suspect had given a note to the cashier with threatening remarks — demanding cigarettes and money from the cash register, police said. A South Jersey man is facing an attempted murder charge after stabbing another man in the neck early Sunday morning, authorities said Monday. Burlington City police were called to a 500 block of Linden Avenue home just after 7 a.m. on reports of a stabbing, Burlington County Prosecutor Scott Coffina and City of Burlington Police Chief John Fine said. Five men and two juveniles have been arrested on child porn charges, authorities in Burlington County announced. The new defendants join 46 people apprehended for similar crimes as part of an investigation launched by the Burlington County Prosecutor's Office during the COVID-19 pandemic called "Operation Safe Quarantine." A Burlington County man was charged Tuesday for fatally shooting his older cousin during an argument earlier this year, authorities said. A woman and three men from Camden County have been arrested in connection with multiple fires as an abandoned iron foundry, authorities said. The fires were intentionally set using flammables in April and June, destroying two buildings while damaging two others, according to Burlington City police.
