Man's Suicide Attempt Closes Route 42 For Hours: State Police (

Police activity that closed Route 42 in Bellmawr for hours has come to an end. For seven hours, the man stood on the ledge of the I-295 overpass, closing Route 42 below in both directions on Thursday afternoon, April 4 near Exit 14. "We were able to get the individual some help," said New Jersey State Trooper, who declined to provide further details. Photos at the scene show tractor trailers lined up under the bridge and police speaking to the man, standing on a ledge of the overpass. A 39-year-old man from Camden County has pleaded guilty in connection with a stabbing, authorities said. Darren Petti, of Bellmawr, admitted on Thursday, June 29, to stabbing a 60-year-old Atlantic City man, according ot the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office. Bellmawr police are investigating a hit-and-run crash that occurred before school on Monday, Oct. 3. A 9-year-old child was struck near E.M. Burke School just prior to the start of school, Bellmawr police said.
