Concerned citizens helped police head off a hit-and-run driver headed toward the George Washington Bridge moments after he struck and injured a pedestrian in Edgewater, authorities said. 911 callers brought police to the intersection of River Road and Garden Place after seeing a man struck in the marked crosswalk by an SUV that kept going shortly before 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, Detective Lt. : Weather Service Warns Against Rip-Tide Swimming As Temperatures Rise
The National Weather Service is warning that there is a "high risk" of rip tide currents this weekend at New Jersey and Delaware beaches, just as temperatures are expected to climb up into the 90s. An offshore storm is expected to cause swells, making swimming potentially dangerous, according to forecasts. “Remember, the ocean water temperature is only around 60 degrees and many beaches are not yet staffed with lifeguards,” the NWS’s Mount Holly station said on Twitter. Couple Charged In Route 80 Assault On NJ State Trooper
A Union County couple remained held in the Bergen County Jail on Sunday after being charged with assaulting a New Jersey state trooper during a traffic stop on westbound Route 80 in Hackensack. Alecia S. Jones of Hillside and Tyson S. Stamper of Elizabeth, both 22, are charged with two counts of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, as well as resisting arrest and possession of marijuana.
