Man Killed In Secaucus Shootout Identified, Charged In 2015 Bias Crime
The man who was killed Sunday night in an exchange of gunfire with police is a 68-year-old former resident of Secaucus, the state Attorney General said. According to a preliminary account, police were called to Sea Isle Key, a street in Harmon Cove, a Secaucus residential development, around 5:41 p.m. Police were responding to a 911 call reporting a domestic incident, the Attorney General's office said. Thanks to a Ridgefield Park police sergeant, detectives from Cliffside Park nabbed a career criminal who they said stabbed and beat a longtime borough resident outside his apartment exactly a month earlier. The 57-year-old victim had just parked his car and was headed home in the 600 block of Palisade Avenue on July 6 when he was rushed by the assailant, who'd been sitting on a nearby bench, Detective Capt. Three Youths Charged In Swastika Graffiti Incidents In Bayonne
Two teens and another youth have been charged with placing Nazi-style graffiti in three different locations in Bayonne, the city’s Office of Emergency Management announced. “Thousands of Bayonne residents fought against Nazi Germany during World War II. Our community rejects swastikas, nooses and all other hateful symbols and everything they represent,” Mayor Jimmy Davis said in a statement.
