LODI, N.J. – Two robbers smashed their way in through the rear window of a Lodi home and rummaged through the place with guns pointed just after midnight Monday, authorities said.

Video surveillance shows four to five people, three of whom walked to the rear of the Westminster Place house while two others stayed in front as possible lookouts, Deputy Chief Donald Scorzetti said.

The residents “were awakened by a loud noise coming from the rear window and then came face to face with intruders who had broken in and were brandishing handguns,” he said.

One was wearing dark pants, a red hooded sweatshirt and a mask over his face and pointed a black handgun pointed at a male resident, the deputy chief said.

“As the victim attempted to retreat back toward his family in the bedroom, the [robber] pushed the victim into an adjacent bathroom and knocked him [down],” he said.

The other gunman wore blue hooded sweatshirt and rummaged through the house, residents told police.

Both were black, they said.

“After a few minutes, the [robbers] left through the door, which is when the police were called,” Scorzetti said. “None of the victims reported any injuries.”

A Bergen County Sheriff’s K-9 unit joined an area search, to no avail. The sheriff’s Bureau of Criminal Identification collected evidence.
