GARFIELD, N.J. -- Patrick Discenza, of Garfield, died on Jan. 9. He was 87.
He was a Navy Veteran of the Korean War, and a parishioner of Most Holy Name RC Church, Garfield, He was employed by the US Postal Service for over 30 years retiring in 1988 as the Supervisor of Postal Operations at the Clifton Post Office on Paulison Avenue, and he was a member of NAPS.
He is survived by his wife, Julia (LaPlaca); a daughter, Julia Pinghera and husband Tony; grandchildren, Lisa, Anthony, Joya, and Vinnie Pinghera; and brothers, Joseph and wife Anna, and Nicholas and wife Geri.
He is predeceased by a brother, Carmen M. Discenza.
Visiting will be on Thursday, 3 to 8 p.m. at the Aloia Funeral Home, 180 Harrison Ave., Garfield. The funeral is on Friday, Jan. 13, arriving at the Aloia Funeral Home at 8:30 a.m. followed by a 9:30 a.m. mass at Most Holy Name RC Church, Garfield. Interment St. Nicholas Cemetery, Lodi.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association and the American Lung Association.
