Occupant In SUV Crash Off Route 46 Gravely Injured, Responders Say
Responders feared the worst for an occupant of an SUV that struck a townhouse Saturday morning in Lodi. The man went into cardiac arrest after the Honda Sante Fe crashed on Harrison Avenue, just off eastbound Route 46 near the Garfield border, shortly after 10:30 a.m. July 8. He was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center. A female occupant apparently wasn't injured. Someone came home earlier than expected, leading to a confrontation between two women in a Lodi apartment, authorities said. The tenant found her boyfriend with a bedmate at Charles Street and Harrison Avenue shortly after 8 a.m. Thursday, responders said. They got into it, leaving the tenant with a slight injury and the sidepiece gone. Lodi Police Sgt. A Nutley man was jailed Wednesday in the deaths of a retired Albanian police chief and a Garfield Walmart manager in an early-morning crash outside the immigrant couple’s Lodi home last month. Donald Kumar Davis, 29, was charged with two counts of vehicular homicide – also known as death by auto. Davis was driving a 2015 Dodge Charger that slammed into a 2005 Toyota Corolla that was emerging from the driveway of a Harrison Avenue garden apartment complex and pushed it nearly 20 feet shortly before 7 a.m. June 29, authorities said. Pickup Slams Into Utility Pole Near Route 46 Entrance In Lodi
A two-vehicle crash Monday morning sent a pickup truck head-on into a utility pole near eastbound Route 46 in Lodi, authorities said. The pickup continued on after the initial crash at Harrison Avenue and Outwater Lane before ramming the pole near the Saddle Brook border, Lt. Robert Salerno said. Injuries were minor and police were investigating, Salerno said. Meanwhile, Outwater Lane remained closed between Westminster Pl to the Route 46 ramp while the wreckage was removed and PSE&G repaired the pole.

LODI, N.J. -- Flames tore through a Lodi condominium complex Sunday evening, sending a firefighter to the hospital with a foot injury and collapsing the roof. The three-alarm Harrison Avenue fire -- off Outwater Lane near the Garfield border -- quickly blew through the second-floor cockloft toward the roof.
