Newark Police Car Struck, Stolen Car Thieves Captured After Crash In Garfield
A driver wanted for hitting a police cruiser with a stolen BMW was nabbed by Garfield police after he crashed into a pole, igniting a fire, and took off on foot, authorities said.
Garfield police spotted the orange 2020 BMW M4 shortly before noon Wednesday, March 27, after colleagues from Newark who were tracking the vehicle via GPS pointed them to Prospect Street after one of their vehicles was hit, Capt. Mario Pozo said.

Support Swells For Little Falls Woman Who Lost Beloved Cat In Fire
Kendall Pappas lost everything, including her treasured cat, Clara, when her apartment in Little Falls caught fire on Monday, Dec. 11.
"The damage is just heartbreaking," Lauren Bellantoni, a friend of Pappas' said. "Losing Clara has devastated Kendall. Clara gave love and snuggles to Kendall for the last 8 years. She will be missed beyond measure."
The fire happened right before Pappas' birthday and with the holidays upcoming. Bellantoni has created a fundraiser for Pappas, as she works to rebuild her life. As of Thursday, Dec. 21, $15,250 has been raised.

10 Firefighters Injured, 19 People Displaced By Thanksgiving Blaze On Bergenline (Update)
Ten firefighters were injured and 19 people were displaced in a West New York fire on Thanksgiving, authorities said.
The blaze at a fire at 5222 Bergenline Ave., located above the Marin Pharmacy, broke out around 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 23, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said.
Footage posted to the Citizen app shows shooting through a window of a building at the corner of 53rd Street.
During suppression efforts, 10 firefighters were injured, including two seriously, Suarez said. One firefighter remains hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, the prosecutor said.

Stolen Car Left In Flames On Route 80, Trio Captured By Njsp, Teaneck PD
A young trio was captured by New Jersey State Police troopers and Teaneck police after they left a stolen car engulfed in flames on Route 80, authorities said.
An intense search began after troopers found the fully engulfed Chevy Cruze, reported stolen out of Jersey City, on the westbound highway near milepost 69 at 7:40 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 22, NJSP Sgt. First Class Philip Curry said.
Teaneck firefighters doused the blaze.
