A driver led Paterson police on a chase that ended when his vehicle slammed into a city police cruiser, igniting a fire, and then crashed onto its side into a porch, authorities said. Paterson police avoided a tragedy when they subdued a wanted city man who tried to pull a gun on them as they moved in to arrest him for a shooting, authorities said. Police began searching for Yusef M. UPDATE: Friends of a man shot in Paterson Friday night brought him to a Rochelle Park nursing home, where he was later pronounced dead, responders said. “Give me the car!” demanded an ex-con whom jurors this past week convicted of a Paterson carjacking. The jury in Paterson deliberated barely an hour before convicting Paul Myhand, 40, of two counts of carjacking.
