A 15-year-old stolen car thief damaged two Clifton police vehicles while failing to elude his pursuers, authorities said. A police chase had passed through Passaic, Nutley, East Rutherford and Secaucus – with speeds exceeding 100 miles an hour -- before heading back to Clifton, where a chain-reaction crash occurred, Detective Lt. 'Guardian Angel' Rescues Clifton Mugging Victim, Arrest Made
A 60-year-old robbery victim who was jumped on a Clifton street had a guardian angel, authorities said. The victim was walking along the 200 block of Ackerman Avenue when he was knocked down and stomped on by an assailant around 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 31, Police Lt. Robert Anderson said. The mugger was trying to wrest the victim's cell phone from his hands when a good Samaritan pulled over, got out of his car and shoved him, Anderson said. The robber then ran off. Clifton PD: Garfield Victims Chase Down, Disarm Crowbar-Swinging Robber
A man who snatched two scooters in Garfield swung a crowbar at the pursuing owners but was quickly disarmed before being seized by Clifton police, authorities said. Julio Rivera, 45, of Vineland grabbed the scooters in Garfield and fled into Clifton pursued by the victims, Clifton Police Detective Lt. Robert Bracken said. Passaic Man Charged In Clifton Stabbing
UPDATE: A Passaic resident was charged with attempted murder for stabbing a man two weeks ago in Clifton, authorities said. Paul Ramirez, 42, stabbed the 24-year-old victim near the corner of Ackerman and Randolph avenues shortly before 11:30 p.m. June 26, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Clifton Police Chief Thomas Rinaldi said in a joint release. They didn’t offer a possible motive, nor did they say what type of weapon was used -- or whether it had been recovered. Police nabbed four juveniles after they bailed out of a stolen car that landed in the Passaic River in Clifton. Miraculously, none of them were seriously injured, authorities said. PHOTOS: A runaway sedan jumped a sidewalk and slammed into a pillar Monday outside a Clifton liquor store. The 58-year-old driver from Guttenberg wasn't seriously injured when her Honda Civic crashed into the pillar in front of Clifton Discount Liquors in Botany Plaza on Ackerman Avenue just off Route 21, police said. Clifton PD: Bicyclist Who Grabbed Pedestrian's Butt Busted
Clifton police nabbed a bicyclist who they said grabbed a Passaic woman’s butt as she walked down a local street. Fredrick Stemcovski, 32, of Clifton rode slowly past the victim, then circled back and fondled her near the corner of Ackerman Avenue and Randolph avenues, Lt. Robert Bracken said. The woman reported it to police, then alerted them when she spotted Stemcovski in the area of Nash Park the next day, the lieutenant said. Detectives who tracked down and arrested Stemcovski charged him with criminal sexual contact and released him pending a hearing.

Bicyclist Kicked Me, Robbed Me, Clifton Woman Tells Police
A 48-year-old Clifton woman told city police a robber on a bicycle kicked her in the ribcage, ripped her purse from her arm and rode off from Botany Village toward Passaic mid-Sunday morning. The robber first circled the area as she walked along Ackerman and Parker avenues near Outwater Lane around 10:15 a.m. Sunday before pedaling up from behind and mugging her, the woman told police.
