TAPPAN, N.J. – Richard F. Policastro, a longtime resident of Tappan, died Friday, June 17. He was 83.
He was born Feb.19, 1933.
He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.
He is survived by his wife, Pauline; his son, Michael Policastro and his wife Kathy and their daughter Isabella Rose; his daughter Jill Martinez and her husband Jaime Martinez and their two children, Juliana and Alexander.

RIDGEWOOD, N.J. – Philip J. Engel, a resident of Ridgewood, died Monday, June 20. He was 89.
Born in Morristown, he grew up in Mendham and graduated from Morristown High School in 1944. Subsequently, he joined the U.S. Army, serving in the Army of Occupation in Japan and later during the Korean War, both times in the Counter Intelligence Corps.
He was a graduate of Princeton University, where he was a member of the Court Club and the Glee Club. He had a long and successful banking career in New York, London, Sydney and Paris, retiring in New York as a senior vice president of HSBC.

She was born April 21, 1965, in New York, and has lived in Bergen County for many years.

PATERSON, N.J. – Michael J. Diefenback, a resident of Paterson, died Tuesday, June 21. He was 70.
Born and raised in Passaic, he’d been a resident of Paterson the past 28 years. He was a livery driver for Bergen Limousine in Hasbrouck Heights and then BBZ Limousine in Bergenfield for 30 years before retiring. He was a parishioner of Holy Trinity Church in Passaic. He was a Vietnam War veteran, having served in the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his wife Elsie; children Michael, Charles, Edward and Kimberly; sisters Nancy Weber and Kathleen Mathews; and eight grandchildren.

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. – Sophie Inserra, a resident of Manchester and formerly of Washington Township, died Wednesday, June 22. She was 95.
Born in Elyria, Ohio, she lived in Gilbertsville, Mass. for more than 20 years before moving to Belleville. She then raised her family in Washington Township for 17 years before settling in Manchester 35 years ago. She was a homemaker and a parishioner of St. John’s RC Church in Lakehurst.

GARFIELD, N.J. -- Jack E. Mansourati, a resident of Garfield, died Wednesday, June 22. He was 67.
He was of Lebanese decent and lived in New York before moving to Hackensack and finally settling in Garfield 17 years ago. He was the owner and designer of DecorPlus Inc. in Hackensack and a member of the Hackensack Chamber of Commerce.
He is survived by his wife Theresa; three children, Joylynn Mansourati, Philip Akel, and Nick Akel; four grandchildren; and five siblings, Tony, Jean, Raymond, Fouad and Jammoule Mansourati.

Born in Morovis, Puerto Rico, she lived in the Bronx, got married and came to Dumont in 1967. Before retiring, she worked for QT Foundation, Oradell, for more than 10 years.
