The Washington Post is reporting that Project Veritas, founded by Westwood's James Edward O'Keefe III, was behind a failed attempt to get the newspaper to publish a fake story about Alabama Senate candidate Republican Roy Moore. A mistrial has been declared in the corruption trial of United States Sen. Robert Menendez of New Jersey after jurors said they were unable to reach a verdict. The judge declared the mistrial shortly before noon Thursday after the jury sent him a note following four days of deliberations that they were hopelessly deadlocked. Democratic incumbents Frank Donohue (989 votes) and Cynthia Pirrera (945) bested Republicans Paul Albanese (572) and Vincent Carnovale (576) in Palisades Park's Council election, according to unofficial results from the Bergen County Elections Office. Stephanie Jang, Barnabas Woo, and Jeffrey Woo were elected to the Palisades Park School Board. President Donald Trump on Tuesday announced he will be phasing out the Obama Administration's Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) policy with an expiration date of March 5, 2018. Christie Just Changed The Game For Smokers In New Jersey
New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie this week signed a law that leaves it up to the municipality to establish civil penalty for smoking in public places. It's still illegal — but A-2368 means you might not get jail time for it. The law takes effect immediately and without it, violators will be charged with a criminal offense that comes with a fine of up to $200, 30 days in jail or both.
