Port Authority police officers at the lower level tolls stopped Axel Jimenez, 27, of Rochelle Park at 7:36 a.m. Monday after he rode his 2014 Yamaha through an E-ZPass lane, the authority's Joseph Pentangelo said.
The cycle didn't have a license plate and Jimenez didn't have E-ZPass, he said.
Back at the lower level, PAPD police stopped 27-year-old Steven Velez of Bogota at 7:54 a.m. after he tried to beat the tolls on a 2016 Suzuki motorcycle, Pentangelo said.
"The license plate of the Suzuki was bent upwards, so as to defeat the E-ZPass camera," he said.
Velez didn't have a license or transponder.
Both he and Jimenez were charged with theft of services and toll evasion.
Velez also was charged with not having a license and Jimenez without having a license plate.
Port Authority police weren't finished, however. A half-hour after the first incident, a motorist with a history of traffic trouble got more at the GWB:
