A Superior Court judge scheduled a May 15 sentencing for Michael Weathersbee, who was convicted of murder and related weapons offenses in the shooting death of Laquan Clark, the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office said Monday.

Police responding to reports of a shooting found Clark, 33, sitting in a car on New Street with multiple gunshot wounds around 2:10 a.m. on Sept. 23, 2018, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said.

Clark was taken to Jersey City Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead nearly 30 minutes later, Suarez said.

The Regional Medical Examiner’s Office determined the cause of death to be gunshot wounds to the torso and head -- and the manner of death a homicide.

Weathersbee was arrested three days after the incident and indicted by a Grand Jury in December 2018.
