Wisper, a businessman who owned bars, restaurants and real estate in Harlem, lost his wife and three children in June 2016 in a still unsolved murder when he and his family were living in Fort Lee.
The movie shot scenes on Euclid Road there as well as in Edgewater, Leonia and Ridgefield. The film wrapped shooting on Friday, July 21 and has now moved to the editing phase.
The crime thriller, which is inspired by actual events, is directed by Russell Emanuel and produced by Howard Nash, and outlines the story of this upper middle-class African American family tragically shot to death at their suburban home. The bodies were found by Wisper who told authorities he had been in the city at the time.
"Josiah Wisper is eventually ruled out as a suspect by law enforcement officials, but many people in his community and beyond remained unconvinced," said Nash.
"A key to the investigation is video footage created by and belonging to Wisper himself."
The film follows Wisper as he embarks on a search to find out who killed his family. His personal video recordings provide critical clues about the crime, and the journey leads to family, friends, police precincts, newspapers, drug dens, and street gang hangouts.
Wisper's Facebook page, entitled the Wisper Project, has generated an outpouring of interest and comments.
“We knew there would be interest, due to the intrigue surrounding this tragic crime, but the level of curiosity and empathy people have displayed has been incredible," said Nash.
"It is our hope that 'Wisper' will provide answers that help resolve this tragic crime in the minds of the audience.”
