Roselle Man, 30, Indicted In Linden Arson Spree
A Union County grand jury returned a nine-count indictment against a Roselle man accused of setting a series of fires in Linden. Marcus D. Wise, 30, set fires to a Linden school, homes and dumpster last July 25, Acting Union County Prosecutor Lyndsay V. Ruotolo said. Roselle Man Charged With Starting Fires In Linden
A 30-year-old Roselle man has been charged with arson in connection with a series of fires occurring on one night in Linden, the Union County Prosecutor's Office said. Marcus B. Wise has been charged with five arson-related counts, as well as a single count of burglary and another count of criminal mischief. The string of fires began around 10 p.m. July 25 at a business on North Wood Avenue, followed within a half-hour by a second blaze in the 900 block of Seymour Avenue at a vacant home. Police Identify Woman Found In Fatal Cranford Fire
A woman whose body was recovered from a Cranford home during a fire Thursday has been identified, police said. Deborah Meehan, 65, was found on the first floor of the Brookdale Place home, where a fire had broken out around 3 p.m. The home was heavily damaged in the fire, which appears to have started on the first floor. The fire also appeared to be accidental, police said. The Union County Fire Investigation Task Force is continuing its investigation, Cranford police also said Friday.
