New Bergen County Pizzeria Homage To Popular Owner's Late Grandmother
The owner of a popular Bergen County pizzeria that shuttered in August 2022 is weeks away from reopening a new shop. Dave Ligas, who owned Tavolino in Wallington, will be opening Casano's Pizza Parlor at 8 Highland Cross — formerly home to Top That! Donuts — in Rutherford, this spring, he tells Daily Voice. The pizzeria is named after Ligas' late grandmother: Marie Rene Casano, an "avid cook" who for years worked as a waitress at Mama Lucia’s in Newark, he said. Popular Bergen Pizzaiolo Opening New Store Year After Closing
The owner of a popular Bergen County pizzeria that shuttered in August 2022 has announced plans for a return. Dave Ligas, who owned Tavolino in Wallington, said on Instagram this week he has plans to open a new shop at the former site of Top That! Donuts in Rutherford. Ligas — who also runs Coniglio’s in Morristown — said only that the shop will be a brand new concept with the same staple pies, and some different options opening in the next few months. Popular Bergen County Pizzeria To Shutter
A Bergen County pizzeria that became one of the most popular in the area in just three years of business is shutting its doors. Tavolino announced its last day in business will be Saturday, Sept. 3. Located at 435 Paterson Ave., in Wallington, Tavolino opened in 2019 and was featured in various news and food publications. . The owners say they are helming a new project, and will apparently be offering the "same great pizza in the very near future."
