A 29-year-old man who had to be rescued after falling more than 20 feet at the Paterson Great Falls considers himself lucky to walk away with bumps and bruises. Police briefly detained the man before quickly releasing him Wednesday evening after determining what had happened. An ambulance took him to the hospital, where he was treated before being released. Firefighters, construction workers and staff at Hackensack University Medical Center teamed up to get a worker who’d suffered a medical episode on a scaffold 50 feet above the street inside the building Tuesday morning, responders said. Bergen Tech Students Make Donated Humvee Street Legal For Hackensack Police Department
Doing their part for public safety, a group of students in the Bergen County Technical School Basic Auto Body Class helped convert a donated Humvee to join the Hackensack Police Department’s fleet. The vehicles are used for high-water rescues in the city – which have been happening more frequently with the increased rainfall this year. Firefighters rescued more than 100 people from a flooded Fairview industrial park on Tuesday. Responders used a backhoe and a High Water Rescue Vehicle brought by Ridgefield firefighters to evacuate the industrial park at 815 Fairview Avenue, Fairview Police Chief Martin Kahn said. MAHWAH, N.J. -- Swift-moving Mahwah police rescued an 11-year-old boy who got stuck in a muddy marsh late Saturday afternoon. Responding to a 911 call Officer Thomas Mitchell found the boy submerged up to his hip in an area behind Linden and Mark Twain Way.
