Update: Service On NJ Transit Trains Restored, But With Lingering Delays Trains were stopped Wednesday morning between North Philadelphia and Penn Station New York due to a problem with overhead power lines, Amtrak said in a statement.  The outage affected Amtrak trains as well as NJ Transit's Northeast Corridor, North Jersey Coast Line and Midtown Direct rail service in both directions. Monday night rush-hour traffic was backed up to the George Washington Bridge. The rear car of a New York, Susquehanna and Western Railway train crossing the 405-foot bridge where Overpeck Creek meets the Hackensack River tumbled down in the collapse just before 8:30 a.m. No one was inside, responders said. Work had begun just last week to replace the roadbed approaching the bridge from the NYS&W yard.
