UPDATE: Bystanders helped free a 30-year-old driver after she fell asleep and her SUV slammed into a utility pole in Glen Rock, authorities said. The 2011 Kia Sportage split the pole into pieces, then rolled onto the driveway of a Lincoln Avenue residence between Greenway Road and Isabella Place shortly before 3 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 15, Glen Rock Police Chief Dean Ackermann said. A driver was OK after her sedan barreled into a Glen Rock storefront. The 2010 Subaru Legacy plowed into the downtown Heidt Agency insurance office on Rock Road just off Glen Avenue shortly after 11 a.m. Friday, March 11. HAWTHORNE, N.J. -- A driver rescued by a Hawthorne police officer sustained serious injuries after his garbage truck lost its brakes and slammed into a tree in Goffle Brook Park on Tuesday.
