SideBar replaces General Poor’s Tavern, which recently closed after nearly 40 years in business on Main Street. General manager Seth Bendian and Chef Danny Connell were brought to the location by longtime owner Bob Laxm. The goal? Bottom's Up! General Poor's Tavern Reopening In Hackensack General Poor's Tavern will soon be back in business. The beloved Hackensack watering hole closed last spring after more than 40 years on Main Street.  According to a banner that recently went up outside of the establishment, General Poor's will soon reopen under new management. The joint has been untouched for years -- and patrons hope it will stay that way. "I hope they leave the inside alone and don't 'modernize' it," one opined on Facebook. "It would kill the atmosphere." No word yet on an opening date.
