Her articles have gained global, national, state, and regional attention and awards and have appeared in a number of newspapers, including USA Today. She has worked for publications such as Family Circle Magazine, The Ridgewood News, and the Daily Record. Lorraine also has penned two memoirs and teaches memoir writing. 250 Gather At Allendale Vigil To Grieve Drug Deaths ALLENDALE, N.J. — Some 250 people, all of whom had lost a loved one to addiction, gathered in Allendale for a candlelight vigil Wednesday night. The event was organized by Hope and Healing After An Addiction Death, a one-year-old bereavement group that meets at an Allendale church. As the evening started at The Red Barn at Crestwood Lake, the bereaved hung pictures of their loved ones and wrote tributes on a huge Wall of Remembrance. Enjoy Food, Rides At Bloomingdale’s Annual Pride Day BLOOMINGDALE, N.J. — Bloomingdale will hold its annual Pride Day, a small town festival, noon to 5 p.m. Sept. 24 at Delazier Field. Children Of Late POW Accept Honor For Dad In Hackensack HACKENSACK, N.J. — The daughter and son of a deceased World War II veteran and German POW accepted honors on their father’s behalf Friday at this year’s POW/MIA Recognition Day Ceremony in Hackensack. The ceremony drew some 100 veterans, dignitaries, and private citizens to One Bergen County Plaza. The honoree was Murray Kent Ulrich of Englewood, who died in 1998. Dumont Mental Health Agency Sounds Alarm On Funding PARAMUS, N.J. — Community mental health leaders in Paramus and Dumont, faced with state funding cuts, are asking: what happens when no one monitors the mentally ill in Bergen County?
