At around 10:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 2, firefighters responded to the area of 700 Canal St. on a report of the sound of a large explosion. Responding fire units were re-deployed to the water treatment facility at 111 Harbor View Ave. for a confirmed explosion, with damage to the building, according to Stamford Fire Department. Alert Issued For Missing Hempstead 14-Year-Old A 14-year-old has gone missing om Long Island and authorities are asking the public's help in finding him. According to detectives, Jusmyne King, 14, was last seen in Brierly Park, Hempstead on Wednesday, July 31 at 4:30 p.m., according to Nassau County Police. The report was received Thursday, Aug. 1. He is described as a black male, 5-foot-8 and approximately 130 pounds. He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt with gray shorts.
