Officer Gerard Graziano, a 13-year veteran, was taken to The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood just before 9:45 p.m., following the incident on Sunnyside Drive, Detective Sgt. Brian Metzler confirmed this morning.

Stephen Wyssenski, 44, meanwhile, was being held on $35,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail. He is charged with two counts of assaulting police, aggravated assault, threatening to kill and criminal mischief.

Officers who responded to the home last night were trying to take Wyssenski into custody when he kicked Sgt. Timothy O’Shaughnessy and Officer Eric Eleshewich, Metzler said.

After they got him into the patrol vehicle, Wyssenski kicked out the window — spraying Graziano in the face, he said

More charges are pending against Wyssenki, who was first taken to Bergen County Regional Medical Center before being moved to the jail.
