Elmwood Park police nab two on drug charges, thanks to tipster

A tipster led Elmwood Park police to the seizure of 10 bags of heroin, five bags of crack and two crack pipes, along with the arrests of man and woman, both 25, this afternoon.

Officers spotted the pair in the area of Van Riper Avenue and Market Street, then stopped their car on Pine Street around 1:15 p.m., Chief Michael Foligno said.

They charged Rommie Shihadeh of Elmwood Park and Adalis Prieto of Fair Lawn with various drug and paraphenalia possession offenses, as well as with being under the influence of drugs, before releasing them pending a Municipal Court hearing.
