Born and raised in Paterson, he resided in Fair Lawn for more than 50 years. An Army veteran, he served during the Korean War.
Corbett was a parishioner of St. Catharine Roman Catholic Church in Glen Rock. He was a loyal Mets and Jets fan. Before retiring, he was a night crew manager with ShopRite in Lincoln Park for 15 years and previously was employed with Pathmark. He also served as a crossing guard in Fair Lawn.
He was predeceased by his wife, Eleanor (Minchin) Corbett, a son, John J.Corbett Jr, and a sister, Mae Corbett.
He is survived by his son Ronald Corbett and wife Doreen; and a grandson, Michael Corbett.
A funeral Mass was celebrated Saturday, Oct. 3, at St. Catharine Roman Catholic Church in Glen Rock. Interment was in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Totowa.
