FAIR LAWN, N.J. -- Happy Birthday Donald Fagen!
Musician Donald Fagen turns 69 years old Tuesday!
Fagen was born in Passaic in 1948, graduated from South Brunswich High School and enrolled at Bard College to study English literature. While attending Bard, Fagen met musician Walter Becker and with an assortment of musicians, including future actor Chevy Chase, formed various groups called The Leather Canary.
It was in the summer of 1970, when Fagen and Becker met guitarist Denny Dias and started the musical partnership that formed the basis of what would become Steely Dan.
Throughout the 1970's, the band released several albums, including the multi-platinum-selling "Aja" in 1977..
After their next album, 1980's "Gaucho," Steely Dan broke up and Fagen went onto a solo career. In the 2000, Becker and Fagen revived Steely Dan, producing two more studio albums.
