Newark Police Arrest 14 Violent Crimes Suspects Multiple suspects involved in shootings and other violent crimes were arrested last week, authorities in Newark said. Patrol officers and members of the Shooting Response Team were able to uncover evidence that led to arrests, warrants issued, and closure of investigations for the following incidents between July 6 and Aug. 11, Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Girl, 6, Grazed By Bullet In Newark Shooting: Report A young child and another person were struck by gunfire in Newark Friday afternoon, WABC 7 reported.  The 6-year-old girl was grazed in the kneecap in the shooting, which occurred around 4 p.m. at Grafton Avenue and Riverside Court. A male victim was hit in the leg.  The injuries were not believed to be life-threatening, authorities said.
