Shots Fired Into Linden Home: Police Several gunshots were fired into a home in Linden on the evening of Sunday, April 14, police said. At 10:35 p.m., officers responded to the 300 block of Elmwood Terrace on a report of shots fired and discovered a suspect or suspects fired several shots into the home before running from the scene, Linden police said in a release. No injuries were reported, police said. The incident remains under investigation by the Linden Police Detective Bureau, police said. Anyone with information is urged to contact Det. Vil was last seen wearing  a plain gray t-shirt, black Nike shorts, and dark blue Crocs, police said. He has a noticeable scar on his forehead and has been seen in Harlem and Queens, police said. Longtime Linden Police Officer Matthew Carew Dies: 'A Class Act' Matthew Carew, who served in the Linden Police Department for 40 years, died on Friday, Oct. 6 at the age of 70, the Linden Police Department announced. A Rahway resident, Carew started as a police officer the Keansburg Police Department before transferring to Linden, according to his obituary. He retired in 2014. Carew is survived by his wife, Rita, his children, Andrew and Christopher, his grandchildren, Mia, Ayva, Chloe and Riley and other relatives. One Injured In Large Linden Fire (Developing) A large fire engulfed a home in Linden on Friday morning, May 26, authorities said. Everyone was able to evacuate from the home on the 1100 block of Forest Drive, Captain Christopher Guenther of the Linden Police Department said. One person suffered a minor injury and was treated at the scene, Guenther said. It is believed the fire began in the yard and spread into the home, Guenther said.
